Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, Betty MacDonald's The egg and I
Hi, it's Anja,
Hello, dear Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and Betty MacDonald Fan Club Fans,
It was a wonderful day. We visited Prater in Vienna with our friends and it reminded us on Betty MacDonald's book Onions in the Stew.
You might think: Is Anja foolish? You can't compare Prater in Vienna with Vashon Island in state of Washington. Believe me, you can! Even here you see racoons. They are really very shameless when they are looking for food.
Can you remember? Betty MacDonald, her husband Donald Chauncey MacDonald and daughters Anne and Joan had their funny moments ( sometimes ) with racoons at Dolphin Point on Vashon Island.
Anita, it's so much fun reading your message about owning chickens.
We laughed tears when I printed out your story yesterday. Our family and friends were sitting in the garden. Two friends own even some chickens. One of them praised them in an almost lyrical way. Our friend was sitting under our big apple-tree. Suddenly a huge apple was falling down directly on the friend's head. He stopped praising chickens and complained about our very hard and dangerous apples. We laughed and said: It was Anita, who sent you this apple.
We enjoy you and your very wise cat Eartha Kitt II.
Anita, you said Eartha seemed to say you sounded like a prayer. I'd say more like a preacher, but a very witty one!

I listen to them often because they always make me laugh. A good friend of mine roared with laughter and nearly fell off the chair. Laughter is healthy but sometimes it can be also dangerous.

It was a wonderful day. We visited Prater in Vienna with our friends and it reminded us on Betty MacDonald's book Onions in the Stew.
You might think: Is Anja foolish? You can't compare Prater in Vienna with Vashon Island in state of Washington. Believe me, you can! Even here you see racoons. They are really very shameless when they are looking for food.
Can you remember? Betty MacDonald, her husband Donald Chauncey MacDonald and daughters Anne and Joan had their funny moments ( sometimes ) with racoons at Dolphin Point on Vashon Island.
Anita, it's so much fun reading your message about owning chickens.
We laughed tears when I printed out your story yesterday. Our family and friends were sitting in the garden. Two friends own even some chickens. One of them praised them in an almost lyrical way. Our friend was sitting under our big apple-tree. Suddenly a huge apple was falling down directly on the friend's head. He stopped praising chickens and complained about our very hard and dangerous apples. We laughed and said: It was Anita, who sent you this apple.
We enjoy you and your very wise cat Eartha Kitt II.
Anita, you said Eartha seemed to say you sounded like a prayer. I'd say more like a preacher, but a very witty one!

I listen to them often because they always make me laugh. A good friend of mine roared with laughter and nearly fell off the chair. Laughter is healthy but sometimes it can be also dangerous.

I'm working on a story about Owning Chickens for Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter.
You will learn many thoughts for example of Betty MacDonald, Robert Eugene Heskett, Donald Chauncey MacDonald, Darsie Bard, Sydney Bard, Gammy, Mary Bard Jensen, Clyde Reynolds Jensen, Cleve Bard, Mary Alice Bard, Dorothea Goldsmith whose name in Betty MacDonald's books is Dede of course, Madge Baldwin, Don Woodfin, Mike Gordon, Ma and Pa Kettle, Nancy and Plum, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and many other family members and friends.
Sandrine darling, you are right. A serious warning! Don't ever listen to Wolfgang Hampel's Betty MacDonald Interviews in public places. I did it in a bus. I felt off my sit because I couldn't stop laughing about this crazy couple. Wolfgang Hampel and Alison Bard Burnett share their witty experiences with family and friends but also about owning chickens. Terribly funny!
This new Betty MacDonald CD and DVD influenced me to write a Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter story about owning chickens. I agree with humor champion Alison Bard Burnett. She got it! When you feel blue you only have to listen to Wolfgang Hampel and Alison Bard Burnett. Don't do it in a childish way like I did. By the way I did hurt myself.
I don't agree with Geoff Taylor's description about owning chickens.
Hens make a soothing clucking noise?
Oh No!!!! They don't. I know it from practice.
They wake you up early in the morning. I'm a longsleeper. I hate their noise. It's just awful.
Everyone should have a dozen chickens?.
Everyone? What is the reason why? I never liked chickens.
They’re far more soothing to the jangled city psyche than colorful fish swimming in a tank on a bookshelf?
Oh dear, Geoff, stop it, please! This is kind of a very romantic feeling. I'm sure Betty MacDonald would hate it and I agree. A back to the country feeling.
I'm a city girl and love my wonderful cat named Eartha Kit, who is as beautiful as Eartha, the singer. Wild Eartha is a city girl too and of course we celebrated World Cat Day together.
Chickens give you eggs on your breakfast plate that are better and fresher than Bill Gates eats, unless he also keeps chickens?
Eartha and I don't need eggs, in fact we don't like them. I can't imagine Bill Gates keeps chickens. If so I'd be very disappointed because I adore his intelligence.
So you know how I feel about Geoff Taylor's thoughts.
I'd like to know what our very bright and charming Betty MacDonald Fan Club Honour Members, authors and artists Monica Sone, Darsie Beck and Gwen Grant think about owning chickens. I'm really very curious. I bet they don't like them.
Chickens remain what they are. Stupid!

Chickens remain what they are. Stupid!
The world don't need their stupidity. We need more intelligence, tolerance and understanding. That's what we need.

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle memories

It'll be kind of a miracle to see Betty MacDonald in front of cameras for the first time.
I adore Wolfgang Hampel's fascinating Betty MacDonald Interviews and biographical books The Kettles' Million Dollar Egg, The Egg and Betty, The Tragic End of Robert Eugene Heskett, Betty MacDonald and Mike Gordon, Betty MacDonald in Butte, Chimacum, Seattle and Carmel, Betty MacDonald's illness published by BMC 2009/2010.
My aunt knows one of Betty MacDonald's and Mary Bard's close friends. My story about this will be published in Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter September 2010 including wonderful Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle memories and very interesting photos.

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and her cat Lightfoot
I'm Cornelia,
Good morning dear Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and Betty MacDonald Fan Club Fans,
Stella, it was World Cat Day. My sisters and I have many cats and they got their World Cat Day gifts. Our children love them. I'm not sure what our husbands think about them. I guess they like dogs, but we are crazy about cats. We know Betty MacDonald owned cats but what about Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle?
She has a cat named Lightfoot and Wag, her dog. Nancy and Plum play with a black mother cat and her three kittens in the barn on Christmas Day. Even Ma and Pa Kettle own a cat.
Our next Betty MacDonald Fan Club Honour Member loves cats. You can see this in artwork and books. A famous writer and artist and President of a world famous Society.
